Made for the upcoming Y2K Jam.
One of things in life I have a monumental passion for, is 2D animation. Particulary 2D Hand Drawn Cel animation, from Disney to Don Bluth, Richard Williams to Ralph Bakshi, 70's 80s and 90s Anime, to the weird and obscure, to the experimental and Arthouse. So, with this piece, I wanted to pay homage to an absolute cult classic...
...the animated movie "Heavy Metal" from 1981, remixing it into a early 2000's Club Trance style track, that was very popular at the time.
The track begins with an intro, that features a segment of the actual orchestral score from the movie (composed by Elmer Bernstein), that will transition into the track itself.
The track almost feels like a fable, between the forces of good vs evil, as the female warrior "Taarna", the last surviving Taarakian, protector and gurdian, sworn by oath and a pact of old, stands and fights alone, for an uncertain future, and into the depths of oblivion.
The Pact:
"To defend...this is the Pact.
But when life loses its value...
...and is taken for naught...
...then the pact is...to avenge."

Made for the upcoming Work In Progress Jam, and i chose the "Make something new but don't finish it" option. I began working on this after acquiring some new samples to play around with, and the song kinda naturally wrote itself after a certain point. I just know that I wanted a sort of euphoric breakdown with a very large build that just keeps building to a zenith of musical tension, with it stopping dead on a precipice before it kicked back in. Hopefully, somewhat achieving that.

did you take some inspiration from Blood is Pumping?

Kinda. I made this from my new sample pack i put up onto dreams, and I'm aware that that particular acid sample used in this is widely associated with Blood is Pumping but it wasnt directly inspired by it. It was composed in a similar way as it was in the back of my head at the time (though - i couldn't remember the track name at the time - i remember hearing it on Clubland X-treme back in the day and just thought doing something "similar" would be cool). Its the only thing that i guess took inspiration from, part from that it was a kinda "write itself" sorta track.
